Privacy Policy
Plenitude Systems ("we", "us", "our") built the Body Soda mobile game ("the App") as a free-to-play app. This Privacy Policy explains what information the App collects, how we use it, and your rights.
Summary: Body Soda does not require an account, does not collect personal information, and does not run its own servers. Gameplay happens locally over your WiFi network between players' devices. We show ads via Google AdMob, which has its own data practices described below.
1. Information the App Handles
The only information the App asks you to provide is:
- Player name — the display name you type when hosting or joining a game. It exists only in the current game session, is shared with other players on the same WiFi room, and is discarded when the session ends. It is not stored on any server (we don't have any).
The App does not collect:
- Email addresses, phone numbers, or postal addresses
- Precise or approximate location (beyond what Google AdMob may collect — see §4)
- Contacts, photos, microphone input, camera input, or files
- Usage analytics or crash reports
- Any persistent identifier linked to you
2. Permissions the App Requests
- Internet / Network State / WiFi State — required for local WiFi multiplayer so devices on the same network can find each other and exchange game messages.
- Nearby WiFi Devices (Android 13+) — required to read the WiFi network name for display purposes on supported Android versions.
- Wake Lock — keeps the screen on during a match so the game doesn't pause while you're playing.
3. How Gameplay Data Flows
When you host a game, your device starts a local WebSocket server on your WiFi network and generates a 6-character room code. Other players on the same network connect to your device using that code. All game messages (joins, role assignments, guesses, scores) travel directly between the host's device and the clients — they do not pass through any Plenitude Systems server or cloud service.
We never see your gameplay. We never see your player name. We never see your WiFi network. The App has no backend infrastructure of our own.
4. Third-Party Services — Google AdMob
The App displays advertisements using Google AdMob, a service provided by Google LLC. When an ad is shown, AdMob may collect and process certain information on behalf of Google, including:
- Your Android advertising ID (a resettable identifier)
- Device information (model, OS version, language)
- Approximate location derived from IP address
- Interaction with ads served
This data is used by Google to serve and measure ads, detect fraud, and comply with legal obligations. We do not receive this data in identifiable form — we only see aggregated revenue reports.
For details on Google's ad practices, including opt-out options, see:
On Android you can reset your advertising ID or opt out of personalized ads via Settings → Google → Ads.
5. Children's Privacy
Body Soda is rated for ages 13 and up. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Since the App does not create accounts or store user data of any kind, no personal data from any child can be stored or transmitted by Plenitude Systems.
Google AdMob may still collect the advertising-ID data described in §4. Parents who wish to restrict ad personalization for children can enable "Opt out of Ads Personalization" in their device's Google Ads settings or use a child-account with restricted ads.
6. Data Retention
Because we do not collect or store any user data on our servers, there is nothing for us to retain or delete. Your player name lives only in the current game session on your own device and the devices of other players you're actively playing with.
7. Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights under privacy laws such as the European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), or India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act. These rights typically include:
- The right to access personal data we hold about you
- The right to correction or deletion of that data
- The right to object to or restrict processing
- The right to data portability
- The right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority
Because Plenitude Systems does not hold any personal data about you through Body Soda, access/deletion requests addressed to us will be confirmed as "no data held". For data collected by Google AdMob, please contact Google using the links in §4.
8. Security
Game messages on your local WiFi are transmitted in cleartext WebSocket frames over your own trusted network. The App does not use HTTPS for local multiplayer because there is no practical certificate authority for peer-to-peer LAN connections. We recommend you only play with people you trust on a trusted WiFi network (home, office, or mobile hotspot) — just as you would for any other local game.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes to the App or legal requirements. When we do, we'll revise the "Last updated" date at the top. Material changes will be communicated through the app's About screen.
